Need ideas on decorating a church gym for my wedding…on an extremely tight budget?

Question by Kari: Need ideas on decorating a church gym for my wedding…on an extremely tight budget?
My head is about ready to explode. I am to be married on the tenth of January in our Church’s gym. We chose it because it is completely free, plus we will have the use of the kitchen, table cloths and nursery. The only problem is, we are on extremely tight budget. So far I have the centerpieces taken care of and we have bought tons of clear xmas lights to use for decoration. Our colors are pretty easy…several different shades of blue and then white and silver. Sort of going by a wintery theme. I have an aisle runner…other than that…NOTHING! I have to create some kind of arch that we can stand under as well. PLEASE HELP! I am lost! I just want it to be really nice.

We had a lattice garden arch. I believe we borrowed it from a neighbor. I suppose the same item can be rented from a rental service, the kind that rents tables, chairs, tents, etc. See the link below.

Or you can use two small tables covered with pretty cloth and flowers on either side of the “alter”.

Best Wishes!

Gather lots of tall bare branches and spray paint them white or silver and apply glitter.while they are wet. Place these in big flower pots with sand or plaster of paris or joint compound (lowe’s/home depot for the powder type) to support them and add weight to them. Pile quilt poly fiber around the pots to cover them tear it and heap it so it looks like snow add glitter here too.. Put your lights on these, and spread these pots throughout the room. Michaels crafts have an arch for about $ 30 or order on line arch from orientaltrading.com they have lots of neat stuff, see the wedding portion of their online catalog and they are fast to ship, do it today if you can. I assume you are using the church for the ceremony. And the gym for the reception. You can add glitz to your tables with 4 inch wide floral ribbon. Stumpsprom.com has a 100 yard bolt of gossamer fabric for a little more than $ 100 if that is a budget possibility and the ship same day it comes in silver and blue and could add ambience and glamour as well. Hope this helps and have a great wedding and live happily forever.
