Question by miaminemo: Looking for contemporary organ music for wedding?
My family is very old fashioned (as am I) and our church has a wonderful pipe organ.

However, my fiancee is looking for something more contemporary, anyone have suggestions for arrangements on the organ that would be considered more contemporary?

Question by ChrissyS: Candles for pew decorations for my wedding?
I am getting married in an extremely fancy catholic church and I’m not wanting to go all out on flowers because it will be too much…I was thinking about doing candles down each side of the isle instead of pew bows or flowers on each pew. The church is huge so I was thinking about doing something only at every other pew to save a little bit of money. I’ve seen some kind of stand that holds like a glass “globe” maybe that holds a candle…I can’t think of the name of them. Was wanting to know if any of you know what I’m talking about and what’s the proper name for them and if any of you have seen them or even used them and what you think of them? Or any other ideas on how to use candles for pew decorations? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
yes it is allowed at the church i asked the priest last night

Wedding Flowers for those special Occasions

Wedding flowers play a vital role in setting up the weddings in church. Right from the bride bouquet to the decorations in the church and the reception room, flowers provide that distinct look needed for that occasion. People who have gathered at the church for the wedding ceremony will have their eyes glued to the bouquet that that is being carried by the bride.

The Bride Bouquet is made up of a number of flowers such as miniature roses, which come in colors such as yellow, Red, pink, orange and white. Bouquets carried by the bride should complement the wedding dress worn by the bride. If the flowers in the bouquet are of a color that is a complete contrast to the wedding dress, then the people gathered for the occasion will get an impression that the couple is not interested in decoration befitting the occasion. The couple can undertake the help of florists who have considerable experience in arranging for special occasions. The wedding couple can also give their suggestions to the florists. The size of the Flower Bouquet carried by the bride should match the body frame of the bride. For a bride who is short in height, the bouquet should be compact enough for her to carry it comfortably. If it’s going to be too heavy and wide then it might look a bit odd in her hands. Similarly, a taller and well built bride should have a much bigger bouquet than the bouquet carried by a shorter bride. Flower decorations in the church and the reception hall should be handled by a florist or a professional wedding planner.

Because of the complexities involved in making the flower decorations across the length and breadth of the reception hall, it should be carefully and tastefully decorated. Wedding flowers that are used for decorating the reception hall can be white in color as it should match the color of the wedding gown worn by the bride. The availability of flowers is mostly dependent on the season in which the wedding is held. A wide variety of flowers are available during the spring and summer season. Because of the huge quantity and wide variety of flowers available in these two seasons, the cost involved also will be economical in nature. Spring and summer is the ideal season to conduct outdoor marriage parties, when the guests will enjoy the festive mood and also the weather associated with the occasion.

Question by sunny_sj07: Need help for a simple wedding ceremony, but a real church wedding will happen later?
Hi, I’m getting married this May. My fiancé and I only want to have a simple ceremony in the city council for now as we are not financially ready for a big church wedding, which will happen later on when we are settled down. So my question is what we are supposed to do in this situation? Do we need to exchange rings now or save to later? Do we have to wear real wedding dress or save to later as well? And also what we should do after the ceremony? Will a little gathering with a bottle of champagne do fine?
I know I don’t have to do anything if I don’t want to do. But my fiancé thinks we should at least make it a bit more formal because his parents are very excited about it and his family wants to have a some kind of celebration. And also would people think we don’t take it seriously if we don’t wear a formal dress and exchange rings?
By the way, the civil ceremony will be in Belgium.

You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, or can’t afford.

If you can’t afford a dress, rings, or big party, don’t have them.

Think of all the people in Vegas who just walk by a chapel in a hotel, and run in to get married! No rings, no formal attire – just the marriage license and nothing more.

Good luck, and Congratulations!!!

Question by cre8ivegals82: Open Church Service and Closed Reception??
I am planning on having a closed wedding reception following my church wedding. I’ve only been at the church for a year and am inviting all the people I am close to (and some that I’m not THAT close to but would be offended if they were not invited.) My dilema: is it completely rude to not invite EVERYONE but almost everyone from the church? I’m having family from out of state and friends coming and I just cannot afford to feed everyone. Food at my reception is a must and I’ve cut corners everywhere, and I do mean everywhere possible, to have food at the reception. Please give input.
